How many sessions will I need?
There's not necessarily a set amount of time or therapy you 'need', this depends on what you are coming for/would like from the sessions.
We can discuss this when we start therapy and keep it under review.
What sort of therapy do you offer?
I see myself very much as an 'Integrative' therapist, this means that I use all my training to support you, without sticking to one type of 'theory'.
Some people will come to see me for something specific, like a sexual issue, so would fit into 'Psychosexual Therapy', but I would still be using all my other skills and training too.
What is Psychosexual Therapy?
Psychosexual Therapy generally focuses on a sexual issue, these could include:
- Unreliable erections
- Delayed ejaculation
- Loss, or lack of sexual desire
- Vaginismus
- Painful sex
- Orgasm problems
- Vulvodynia
Of course, some people come to see a Psychosexual Therapist for various other reasons, such as Porn use, intimacy with partner(s), Fetish(es) or exploring Kinks.
Is there a difference between Counselling, Therapy and Psychotherapy?
The simple answer is no.
In the UK terms such as Counsellor, Therapist and Psychotherapist are not protected words by law.
Therefore some people use the words interchangeably.
I usually the words 'Counsellor' or 'Therapist'.
Some proffesional membership bodies, and indeed some therapists differentiate between the terms, but in UK law there's no distinction between them.
Why is therapy so expensive?
As a Therapist, I am self employed, and don't get things like sick pay and employee benefits.
There's also the training and qualifications, as well as ongoing Continuing Professional Development to pay for.
Taking the ongoing costs of just being a therapist, the per session fee needs to take into account my qualifications (and how much that has cost me), as well as practical things such as room hire or Zoom license fees.
